The Class 1A No. 2 University Trailblazers handled business against Anderson Prep Academy Saturday night with a 77-36 road win — even without two of their top scorers.

Senior Josh Watson led the ‘Blazers charge with a game-high 24 points, as University jumped out to a double-digit lead at 18-7 after the first quarter.

University extended the margin to 32-18 by halftime, with its lowest scoring quarter of the night.

Seniors David Howard and Zach Hodgin, the team’s first and third leading scorers, respectively, missed the contest due to a scheduling conflict, University head coach Brandon Lafferman said.

But Watson, and fellow seniors Ethan Sickels and Foster Flamion helped pick up the slack. In addition to Watson’s 24 points, Sickels scored 21 and Flamion had 10.

University outscored Anderson Prep 24-7 in the third quarter and 21-11 in the fourth in route to a 41-point win.

Robert Lee led Anderson Prep in scoring with nine points, and Jack Scott contributed six.

Eyal Friedman and Nate Shatowski chipped in with five points each for University.

University (13-1) is back on the road Thursday at Indianapolis Lutheran (3-13). The Saints are currently just 1-6 on their home court, while the Trailblazers are a perfect 5-0 on the road.
