INDIANAPOLIS - The University Trailblazers boys' basketball team dropped its second game in a row on Friday night to the Shortridge Blue Devils 53-38.

The Trailblazers (12-8) jumped out to an early 19-8 lead over the Blue Devils (12-7) after just one quarter of play and looked poised to grab an easy road win.

Yet, the Blue Devil offense would come to life in the second quarter and managed to cut the Trailblazers lead down to just one before the halftime break.

Things took a turn for the worse for the Trailblazers in the third quarter, but the offense, which had done so well in the first half, was nowhere to be found. Unfortunately for the Blazers, the Blue Devils' attack was just beginning to pick up steam.

The Blue Devils outscored the Trailblazers 15-2 in the third quarter to take a 12-point lead heading into the final quarter.

It got a little bit better for the Blazers in the final period but the deficit was simply too large to overcome. The Blue Devils outscored the Blazers 11-8 in the fourth to put a stop to any sort of late-quarter rally.

The Trailblazers will be back on the court on Tuesday as they take on the host Heritage Christian Eagles (7-12) at 7:30 p.m. The Blazers next home game will be on Feb. 19 as they host Indiana Deaf.
