MARTINSVILLE - The University Trailblazers boys' basketball went on the road for just the second time this month and came away with a 68-54 win over the Eminence Eels.

The Trailblazers (9-6) took an early lead and ran with it as they raced past the Eels (5-8) for their third-straight win.

The Blazers scored 19 points in the first quarter while also holding the Eels to a goose egg to take a commanding lead. They continued to pour it on in the second but finally gave up some points and went into halftime with a comfortable 33-14 advantage.

Continuing the onslaught, the Blazers dropped another 18 points on the Eels and held them to just 14 points in the third quarter.

The Eels started a fourth-quarter rally but the deficit was too large to overcome. They scored 26 points in the final period but the Blazers had already done enough damage to get the victory.

It will be a couple of weeks before the Trailblazers are back on the court. They'll host the Traders Point Christian Academy Golden Eagles (4-5) on Friday, Jan. 30 at 7:30 p.m.
