The Sheridan girls basketball team won the the Tri Invitational Tournament in a nail-biter.

The Blackhawks got an early led and had to hold on for a 40-38 victory over the Tri Titans on Friday night.

Audrey Reed led the Blackhawks in scoring with 18 points. The senior shot 4-of-10 from the field, including 2-of-3 from behind the arc. Reed also converted eight of her 12 from the foul line.

Junior Jillian O’Flaherty finished with 14 points for Sheridan, who led 27-17 at halftime and had a 10-point lead heading to the fourth quarter. The Titans doubled up the Blackhawks, 12-6, in the game’s final eight minutes, but Sheridan held on for the win and tourney title.

The Blackhawks shot 58 percent, 7-of-12, from deep, with O’Flaherty connecting on 4-of-5.

Nixon Williams led Sheridan in rebounding with six. The senior finished third on the team with five points.

The Blackhawks reached the championship game with a 41-26 over the Daleville Broncos in the semifinals. Reed led the Blackhawks in scoring again - this time dropping 24. Reed also pulled down six rebounds, which was second on the team to Williams’ seven.

Sheridan’s defense helped lead the way to the double-digit win. The Blackhawks had 18 steals and were led by Williams’ six.
