The Sheridan Blackhawks earned their second conference win on Friday night as they defeated Eastern High School 49-43.

After going down 12-5 after a quarter, the Blackhawks offense picked up and scored 14 in the second. Sheridan was trailing 27-19 at the half.

The Blackhawks cut into Eastern’s lead in the third, outscoring the home team 16-12. A strong defensive showing in the fourth allowed Sheridan to outscore Eastern by 10, 14-4, and the road team got the comeback win.

Senior Ange Gnamkey continued his bright season with 13 points and five rebounds. Senior guard Austin Hunter added 11 points to the Blackhawks’ total along with two rebounds and three steals.

Sheridan shot just 38% from the field on 16-42 field goals. The Blackhawks struggled from the free throw line shooting 57% on the night, 12-21.

The Blackhawk’s second half defense propelled them to the victory, as the team tallied 13 steals in the come-from-behind win.

Sheridan’s next game is Tuesday at North Montgomery High School. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
