Senior Ange Gnamkey scored 15 points to help Sheridan get back in the win column.

After a hiccup against Rossville earlier in the week, Sheridan traveled to North Miami Saturday and left with a 53-46 win.

Sheridan (9-7) opened the game on a 14-5 run through the first quarter, but was unable to maintain its advantage in the second.

North Miami (3-13) fought back, outscoring Sheridan 16-7, and the score was locked at 21 heading into the half.

While Gnamkey led the way for the Blackhawks, he didn’t have to shoulder the load alone. Senior Jack Waitt scored nine points and Nicholas Burnell finished with seven points and 11 rebounds. By the end of the third, Sheridan had taken a 37-28 lead.

North Miami cut into the margin in the fourth, but Sheridan was able to get to the line and convert. The Blackhawks shot 21-of-33 at the charity stripe.

Sheridan hosts Carroll (4-11) Friday at 7:30 p.m.
