The Sheridan girls' basketball team wasn't so gracious this week, cruising to three consecutive one-sided victories to win their own Holiday Tournament on Tuesday night.

The Class 2A Blackhawks walloped Indiana Math & Science 90-21 in the first round of the Sheridan Holiday Tournament on Monday.

The next day, they thumped 3A Hammond Gavit 56-21 in the semifinals and ran away with an easy 58-39 win against 3A Franklin County in the championship game.

Audrey Reed led the Blackhawks in the semifinals with a team-high 21 points on 7-of-15 shooting. She added seven rebounds with six on the defensive glass.

Brittany Welch followed with 14 points, eight rebounds and three steals.

Sheridan jumped out to a 28-11 halftime lead before outscoring Hammond Gavit 28-10 in the second half.

Franklin County kept the title game closer as Sheridan built a 19-13 lead after the first quarter.

Up 29-21 at halftime, the Blackhawks pushed the margin to double digits in the second half with another 29-point surge through the game's final 16 minutes.

Welch paced the offense in the title game, scoring 17 points. She also captained the defense with four steals and five rebounds.

Katie Hybarger backed her up with 14 points, shooting 7-of-10 from the floor. She hauled in a team-best 10 rebounds and had a pair of steals.

Faith DeVaney chipped in seven points and four rebounds. Rebekah Hopper added seven points and three rebound while Reed had six rebounds and a steal.

The Blackhawks are now 13-2 on the season and travel to 2A Tipton on Tuesday.
