SHERIDAN - The Sheridan Blackhawks girls' basketball team grabbed another win over the weekend as they dismantled the Muncie Burris Owls 79-25.

The Blackhawks (16-6) could have shut down the offense after the first quarter and still would have earned a victory over the Owls (4-16).

Three Blackhawk players scored in double digits on Saturday afternoon and two of them tallied more than 20 points.

Brittany Welch and Audrey Reed scored 23 and 21 points, respectively. Both players also did well on the boards. Welch pulled down seven rebounds and Reed grabbed six. Both girls also totaled three steals.

Payton Buckner had a very active day for the Blackhawks as well.

She scored 13 points, grabbed four boards, tallied four assists, and four steals. She led the team in both assists and steals.

The Blackhawks were excellent on the glass and pulled down 42 rebounds in total for the game. Katie Hybarger led the team with eight rebounds, and she also scored eight points.

However, offense wasn't the only thing that helped carry the Blackhawks to victory. They also played great defense. It was the sixth time all season that the Blackhawks have held a team to less than 30 points in a single game.

The Blackhawks have one more game before they begin postseason play. They'll be at home on Tuesday night as they face the Frankfort Hot Dogs (11-10) at 7:30 p.m.
