The Sheridan Blackhawks picked up a 69-66 win in double-overtime against the Western Boone Stars Saturday night.

Senior Ange Gnamkey paced the Blackhawks with a game-high 23 points on an efficient 8-of-13 shooting.

After a back-and-forth first quarter, Sheridan outscored Western Boone 17-11 in the second to take a 32-27 lead into the locker room.

Spencer Wright led a third-quarter Stars’ charge that saw Western Boone put 21 points on the scoreboard. The sophomore finished with a team-high 20 points on 8-of-12 from the floor.

Western Boone held a three-point edge, 48-45, heading to the fourth, where Sheridan was able to lock down defensively. The Blackhawks held the Stars to just nine points in the final quarter and tied the score at 57 at the end of regulation.

Senior Jack Waitt and junior Nicholas Burnell helped Gnamkey share the offensive load with 11 and 10 points, respectively. Waitt knocked down two of Sheridan’s four 3-pointers, while Burnell made all four of his field-goal attempts.

Both sides managed just two points in the first overtime period, and the Blackhawks outscored the Stars 10-7 in the second OT to pull out the three-point win.

Sheridan finished 24-of-47 (51 percent) from the field as a team, and connected on 17-of-25 (68 percent from the foul line. Western Boone shot 22-of-46 from the floor and 17-of-19 at the line.

The Blackhawks held a 27-22 advantage on the glass. Burnell had a game-high 13 rebounds. Wright led Western Boone with 11 boards.

Sheridan (11-9) travels to Bethesda Christian on Tuesday.
