SHERIDAN - The Sheridan Blackhawks boys' basketball team fell short of a home victory on Saturday losing to the Fountain Central Mustangs 58-47.

The Blackhawks (3-6) got off to a good start but couldn't find much offense in the second and third quarters to keep up with the Mustangs (9-5).

After the first quarter the Blackhawks were clinging to a two-point lead but the offense fell flat in the second quarter managing only four points.

It didn't get much better for the Blackhawks on offense in the second half as they could only muster seven points in the third quarter. However, the Blackhawks did go on a bit of a scoring spurt in the final period scoring 20 points but were not able to slow down the Mustangs on defense.

Senior Brock Kitchel led the Blackhawks in scoring with 19 points. Kitchel has scored in double digits in seven games this season and is averaging 15.3 points a game.

Jacob and Garrett Chesney added 11 and 10 points, respectively. Junior Chris Roberts had a big day on the boards pulling down 10 rebounds for the Blackhawks.

The Blackhawks will back on the court Friday against the Tipton Blue Devils. The Blue Devils (5-2) defeated the Blackhawks last season 88-62. Tipoff is at 7:30 p.m. at Tipton High School.
