SHERIDAN - The Sheridan boys' basketball team's three-game winning streak came to an abrupt end on Friday night, and unfortunately the trend continued the next day.

Falling 94-51 at home to Class 3A Tri-West on Friday, the Class 2A Blackhawks lost again on Saturday night against 2A Taylor 42-39 on the road.

In the first of a back-to-back, Sheridan fell behind quickly 27-7 in the first quarter, struggling to find any consistency early. Tri-West built a 47-20 lead by halftime and was never truly threatened.

Jake Chesney led the Blackhawks with 10 points, shooting 40 percent from the field. His brother, Garrett, was 3-for-3 from 3-point range with nine points while Patrick Weitzel chipped in eight points.

On Saturday, the Blackhawks kept Taylor within their sights, trailing 10-9 after the first quarter and 16-13 at halftime.

Sheridan cut the lead to two points heading into the final frame, but couldn't find enough offense to rally back.

Chris Roberts had a team-high 11 points in the loss. Garrett Chesney followed with nine points, and Brock Kitchel had seven points.

The Blackhawks host 3A North Montgomery (3-5) on Tuesday before taking their holiday break, resuming action on Jan. 3, 2015 at Pioneer.
