GREENTOWN - When you're hot, you're hot.

The Sheridan boys basketball team started the season back on Nov. 23 and promptly dropped its first two games. However, since then the Blackhawks have warmed up considerably, winning four of the last five. Friday night, they turned the heat up even more en route to a lopsided 50-36 easy victory over Hoosier Heartland Conference foe Eastern.

It almost didn't end that way though.

The Blackhawks started slowly and trailed at the end of the first half, 20-17. Coach Chris Schrank turned on all the jets the second half and the boys blew out the Comets 33-16 en route to the final tally.

Sean Wietzel was red-hot. He nailed six of his eight field goal attempts and was a perfect 4-for-4 from the charity stripe. He finished with a team-high 21 points. If Wietzel was red-hot, then Drake Delph was white-hot. He made all of his shots and finished with a solid 12 points.

The victory leaves Sheridan in first place in the East Division of the HHC at 2-0. The Blackhawks are 4-3 overall and play the team half a game back in the standings Dec. 16. Taylor is 2-4 overall, but 1-0 in the conference. On Dec. 21 North Montgomery comes calling and then the Blackhawks wrap up their pre-Christmas schedule with a game at Lapel on Dec. 23.
