SHERIDAN – The Blackhawks were back on the court looking to avenge a tough loss against Rossville on Saturday at home. They were once again back on their home court, this time hosting the North Montgomery Chargers.

However the struggles for the Blackhawks continued as they fell to the Chargers by final score of 55-30. The team used a 17-5 fourth quarter to make the deficit not as large, but still pretty decisive.

The Chargers started to break things open in the second half as they used a 21-2 second quarter to take a 36-9 lead into halftime. The Blackhawks only continued to see their deficit increase in the third as their offense wasn’t able to get anything going against the senior-led Chargers squad. They were once again outscored 14-4 in the third as the Chargers were able to cruise to a win.

Kyle Eden led the way for the Blackhawks with eight points in the loss with Nick Roberts adding seven. The loss drops the Blackhawks record to 3-7 on the season (1-2 HHC). They will be back in action Friday night as they travel to take on HHC opponent Tri-Central (5-5).

CRAWFORDSVILLE – The Lady Blackhawks hit the road as they traveled to take on the Crawfordsville Lady Athenians on Tuesday night.

The game was a thriller as both teams went on runs throughout the game. Allie Delph had a chance to seal the win at the free-throw line with just over ten seconds left in the game and the Blackhawks up 41-38, however she missed the second free-throw which allowed senior Peyton Sinnet to hit a game-tying buzzer beating shot to send the game into overtime.

In overtime, the Athenians rode the momentum they built as they held the Blackhawks to just three points in the ovetime period and were able to scratch out a 47-44 win.

The Blackhawks started out the game playing fast and connecting on a majority of their shots as they built a 16-7 lead after the first quarter. They would add to their lead in the second by scoring the first two baskets to go up by 13 points. After that basket the Blackhawks did not score again until a few minutes into the third quarter as the Athenians went on a 16-0 run to take a 28-25 lead. ]

That run was followed by a 7-0 run by the Blackhawks who also were able to string another 7-0 run halfway through the fourth quarter. They were never able to put the nail in the coffin as the Athenians continued to fight back and came out on top.

Taylor Bates ended the game with ten points and eight rebounds in the loss. With the loss the Lady Blackhawks record sits at 6-9 (1-4 HHC). They will be back in action on Thursday as they host Tipton (7-7).
