The Lady Royals were able to win a pair of matches on Saturday to capture the Class 4A Sectional 8 championship. 

In the first match The Lady Royals defeated Zionsville 25-12, 25-23, 25-15 to advance to the sectional final. The Royals were led by Delaney Garner with 16 kills and Abby Weber with 12 kills., ten digs and two aces. Defensively, Carly Mills had 20 digs and two aces. Kyla Berg added ten digs and two aces. Lillian Leiner collected 11 digs of her own.

With that win, that set up a match against cross-town rival Fishers who outlasted Carmel in their sectional semi-final match in a thrilling five setter which saw the Tigers win 25-22, 24-26, 26-24, 19-25, and 16-14 to advance them to the sectional final. 

These two schools met back on Sep. 12 in the annual “mudsock game”. In that matchup the Lady Royals won in five sets. 

This time the Lady Royals took care business rather quickly against their rival as the swept the Tigers 25-20, 25-19, and 25-19 to claim the sectional title. 

Weber finished with 16 kills and Garner added ten kills and two blocks. Hunter added eight kills including her 900th career kill on match point. Defensively Mills had 13 digs, and Berg added ten digs. Olivia Phillips finished with 24 assists.

The loss for the Tigers ends their season with a 15-14 record (3-4 HCC). 

The Royals with both wins improve to 26-4 on the season (7-0 HCC). 

The Royals will now advance to the regional semi-final next Saturday where they will take on Homestead (19-14). The match will take place at Noblesville High School and start at 12 p.m. 

Huskies fall in Sectional final against Brebeuf

INDIANAPOLIS - The Lady Huskies took on Brebeuf in Saturday’s Class 3A Sectional final and fell in a 3-0 sweep as Brebeuf won 25-8-25-13, and 25-17 to win the sectional title. 

The Huskies earlier in the day defeated Indianapolis Shortridge 25-8, 25-10, and 25-17 to advance to the championship game against Brebeuf. 
The Lady Huskies end their season with an overall record of 11-14 (3-4 Hoosier Conference). 

Brebeuf also defeated the Lady Golden Eagles of Guerin Catholic in their first game of Saturday’s sectional semi-final by a score of 25-14, 24-22, and 25-22. 
The loss for the Golden Eagles ended their season with a 6-19 (0-5 Circle City Conference)
