HSE captures sectional championship over Carmel
FISHERS – The Hamilton Southeastern girls’ basketball team won the Sectional 8 championship on Saturday, defeating Carmel 47-34.
After facing a 10-8 deficit at the end of the first quarter, Hamilton Southeastern used a 15-6 run in the second quarter to gain and hold the lead for the rest of the game. Sydney Parrish and Malea Jackson both finished with double-digit scoring for the Lady Royals, with Parrish posting 16 points, nine rebounds, three assists, two blocks and one steal while Jackson finished with 13 points, two assists, one rebound and one steal.
Hamilton Southeastern will face Carroll in regional play on Saturday in Kokomo at 10 a.m.

Noblesville bounces back, defeats Mt. Vernon
After losing two-straight games, including a 60-58 overtime loss versus Logansport, the Noblesville boys’ basketball team ended its losing skid with a 48-38 victory over Mt. Vernon on Saturday.
After a back-and-forth game resulted in a 30-27 Noblesville lead heading into the fourth quarter, the Millers went on an 18-11 run to grab the victory. Zack Johnson led Noblesville in points with 16 while also adding two rebounds and one assist. Xavier Hines added six points, seven rebounds, three steals and two assists for the Millers.
Noblesville will face Brownsburg at home on Friday at 7:30 p.m.

Lady Royals defeat Fishers in sectional play
FISHERS – The Hamilton Southeastern girls’ basketball team grabbed a win in the lowest offensive game of the season for the Lady Royals, defeating Fishers 36-27 in the second round of sectional play on Friday.
Both teams were tied 24-24 heading into the fourth quarter, but a 12-3 run from Hamilton Southeastern closed out the game. The Lady Royals’ Sydney Parrish led all scorers, finishing with 18 points, eight rebounds, three blocks, two assists and two steals. 

Hamilton Southeastern grabs 27-point victory
FISHERS – In an efficient offensive performance, the Hamilton Southeastern boys’ basketball team defeated Franklin Central by a score of 75-58 on Thursday.
The Royals’ Aaron Etherington led all scorers with 25 points in addition to eight rebounds and five assists. Chris Grubbs added a double-double effort for Hamilton Southeastern, posting 17 points, 10 rebounds, two assists and one block.

Carmel wins fourth-straight game
INDIANAPOLIS – The Carmel boys’ basketball team grabbed its fourth-straight win of the season, defeating Lawrence North 67-60 on Thursday.
Karsten Windlan led the Greyhounds in scoring with 20 points while also adding two rebounds, one assist and one steal. John Michael Mulloy finished with 13 points, three rebounds, one assist and one steal for Carmel. 
The Greyhounds will return to action on Friday at home against Hamilton Southeastern at 7:30 p.m.

Westfield falls to Fishers
WESTFIELD – The Westfield boys’ basketball team lost to Fishers on Thursday by a score of 63-53.
The Shamrocks jumped out to an early 15-12 lead at the end of the first quarter but were outscored 35-18 in the second and third quarter. Caleb Welch was the leading scorer for Westfield, posting 19 points, three rebounds and one steal. Zach Banks finished with 10 for the Shamrocks as well as two rebounds, two steals and one block.

Hamilton Heights suffers loss at Frankton
FRANKTON – After winning two straight games, the Hamilton Heights boys’ basketball team was unable to overcome Frankton on the road on Thursday, losing 77-71.
AJ Field led the Huskies in scoring with 23 points in addition to five rebounds, one assist, one steal and one block. Gus Etchison added 18 points, five assists, three rebounds, two blocks and one steal for Hamilton Heights.

Fishers grabs first-round sectional win
FISHERS – The Fishers girls’ basketball team grabbed a 58-33 win over Anderson in the first round of sectional play last Tuesday.
The Lady Tigers used an all-around game to advance into the second round of play, outscoring the Indians 50-17 throughout the first three quarters. Fishers’ Katie Burton led all scorers with 23 points as well as eight rebounds, two steals, one assist and one block. Tamia Perryman added eight points for the Lady Tigers in addition to nine rebounds, five assists and one steal.

New Palestine edges Noblesville gymnastics
NEW PALESTINE – In a close matchup last Tuesday, the Noblesville gymnastics team was unable to grab a victory over New Palestine, losing 99.875 to 84.525.  
On vault for the Lady Millers was freshman Kiley Reisner, who posted a personal-best score of 8.325, placing fourth. Junior Kayleigh Sahr finished with a final score of 8.2, placing fifth.  On bars for Noblesville was junior Kayleigh Sahr, who finished with a score of 5.475, placing sixth. In the beam event, senior Devyn Palmer posted a score of 7.425, placing 4th. Freshman Kiley Reisner finished close behind, finishing with a score of 7.15. On floor for the Lady Millers, senior Devyn Palmer had a score of 8.025.
Noblesville will take on Lafayette Jefferson at home tonight at 6:30 p.m.

Lady Millers fall to Carmel in sectional
FISHERS – The Noblesville girls’ basketball team was defeated by Carmel in last Tuesday’s sectional matchup after a back-and-forth first half, losing by a final score of 48-33.
After entering halftime tied at 20-20, the Lady Millers were outscored 28-13 in the second half and 18-6 in the fourth quarter. Mallory Johnson led in scoring for Noblesville, posting 14 points as well as three rebounds and two steals. Maddie Knight added seven points, four rebounds, three assists and three steals in the losing effort.
