The Noblesville Millers (8-8) traveled to Fishers on Friday night for a conference matchup against Hamilton Southeastern (12-5). The Millers—despite putting up a good effort—looked outmatched in the paint on both offense and defense. At the final buzzer it was HSE on top 68-43.

The Royals were led by junior Mabor Majak who finished the game with 16 points, 7 rebounds and a block. 6-foot-7 senior Aaron Etherington added 13 points. Sophomore Landon Morris and senior Noah Smith each added 11. The Royals shot just 35 percent from three, but managed about 50 percent from inside the arc and made 16 of 18 free throws.

It was clear early on that HSE was hoping to get a lot of production from out of their 7-footer Mabor Majak. The Royals went to Majak in the post of their first three possessions, which was good for 6 points.

Noblesville called a timeout after a big three from HSE with 3:44 left in the first that made the score 12-5, HSE.

After the timeout, Noblesville seemed to figure some things out on defense. By the end of the first quarter it was the Royals on top 15-9.

The Millers picked things up on offense in the first four minutes of the first, but were still having a tough time shutting down HSE’s post play.

Noblesville took their second timeout with 2:41 left in the second quarter after a three-pointer from the Royals made the score 27-19.

Going into the locker room at the half it was HSE with a 29-19 lead over the Millers.

Things looked similar to the first half during the first five minutes of the third quarter. With 2:53 left in the third, Noblesville called timeout down 41-29 in an attempt to regroup.

But the Royals had continued piling on points in the paint and, by the end of the third, HSE had managed to maintain their 15 point lead. This time they were on top 50-35.

In the opening minutes of the fourth HSE continued to look dominant rebounding and shooting. With 4:31 remaining the Royals had already extended their lead by 8 more points, as the Millers trailed 60-37.

By the time the final buzzer sounded the Royals were on top 68-43.

Hamilton Southeastern will take on Franklin Central (1-12) in their next game on Thursday, Jan. 31, at 7:30 p.m. in Fishers. The Millers played Franklin Central last Friday night and beat the Flashes 53-38.

The Millers have a bit of a break in their schedule. Noblesville will look to get above the .500-mark with a win over Mt. Vernon next Saturday, Feb. 2, at The Mill in Noblesville. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m.
