Guerin Catholic senior Zach Munson had a big game in the Golden Eagles’ win over Indianapolis Washington Friday and was rewarded with a spot in this week’s Indiana Basketball Coaches Association/Subway Player of the Week program.

The 6-7 Munson totaled 30 points with 11 rebounds and four assists in keying Guerin Catholic (13-7) to a 96-53 victory in the Golden Eagles’ only game of the week. A University of Chicago recruit, Munson hit 14-of-17 shots, including one 3-pointer, plus one free throw.

In 20 games this season, Munson is averaging 15.5 points, 6.8 rebounds and 1.5 assists.

Munson is joined in this weeks IBCA/Subway Player of the Week program by Lakeland senior Camron Bontrager, Tri-County senior Bennie Patterson and New Albany senior Romeo Langford. The girls’ honorees are Warren Central junior Shaila Beeler, Paoli junior Jacqlyn Rice and North Judson freshman Lilliann Frasure as a girls’ winner for the week of Feb. 5-10.

The 6-5 Langford had yet another epic week, averaging 42.0 points and 11.0 rebounds as the New Albany boys improved to 19-1. Langford poured in 53 points with 11 rebounds, four assists and two steals in a 92-44 triumph over Providence. He followed with 31 points (moving his career total to 2,780), 11 rebounds, six assists and four steals as the Bulldogs defeated Madison 68-37. Over the two games, Langford was 27-of-50 from the floor, 7-of-18 from 3-point range and 23-of-25 from the line.

Notable nominees this week include: Westfield junior Zach Banks, University senior David Howard, Carmel senior Amy Dilk and Hamilton Heights junior Lauryn Wiley.
