FISHERS - The Hamilton Southeastern Royals boys' swimming team won its 23 consecutive sectional title over the weekend with a total score of 519 points.

Hamilton County rival Fishers finished just behind the Royals with their total score of 509.

It was a record-setting day for both the Royals and the Tigers as total of seven swimmers set new records in the pool on Saturday.

The Royals' 200-yard medley relay team composed of Joe Young, Wilson Clark, Nick Pfanstiel and Quinn Teague got it all started. They set a new sectional and pool record of 1:33.11 in the event. The Fishers team of Nolan Yorkman, Luke Ingram, Joseph Moser and Joel Crull were more than four seconds behind them.

Fishers' Glen Brown set the first of his two records on the day in the 200 freestyle. He came in with a time of 1:40.36 to break last year's sectional record of 1:41.01, and his teammate Bradley Jacobs wasn't too far behind at 1:44.08. HSE's Matthew Netherton finished third at 1:46.00.

Brown's other record time came in the 500 freestyle. Both Brown and Pfanstiel broke the old sectional record time of 4:39.28. Brown came in first in the event at 4:31.07, and Pfanstiel was on his tail at 4:35.54.

Young also set a couple of records himself. The first one came in the 200 IM where he came in at 1:51.81. The Tigers' Luke Ingram also bested the old record with a time of 1:52.81. Young had set last years' sectional record with a time of 1:53.53.

Young's second record time was in the 100 backstroke. The previous sectional record was set in 2009 with a time of 50.28. Young came in with his sub-50 time of 49.37. His teammates Levi Teague and Liam Aranda came in second with times of 55.08 and 55.27, respectively.

Austin Smith of Fishers took home top honors in the diving event with his total score of 520.35. His teammate Cole VanDevender also qualified for regionals with his score of 464.85. HSE's Hayden Wenger also qualified for regionals with a score of 438.25.

Diving regionals will take place Tuesday at Fishers at 6 p.m. The state final preliminary round will be this Friday at 6 p.m. at the IUPUI Natatorium. The top 16 swimmers in each event will move on to Saturday's consolation and final heats.
