A strong first quarter wasn’t enough to help the Fishers boys basketball team upset Ben Davis on the road Tuesday night.

Alex Szilagyi led the Tigers in scoring with 10 points, but a slow second and third quarters proved Fishers’ downfall as they fell to the 2016-17 State Champions 67-42.

The Tigers started the game going toe-to-toe with the Giants and at the end of the first quarter the score was tied at 10.

But the Giants locked down defensively in the second, holding the Tigers to seven points, and took a 31-17 lead into the locker room.

Ben Davis continued to shut Fishers down after halftime - led 47-28 after the third - and held on for a double-digit win.

Terry Hicks finished second on Fishers with nine points, while Luke Hernandez and Jack Maller both added six points. The Tigers fall to 4-6 on the season and 0-2 in conference play. Fishers returns to action at 7:30 p.m. on Jan. 5, when Pike pays a visit.
