Kevin Harvick, who won at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway from the pole in 2003, will try to do it again today in the Brickyard 400 on the world's most famous oval, when the green flag drops at 1 p.m.

Harvick posted a speed of 188.470 mph in the final round of NASCAR Sprint Cup knockout qualifying on Saturday to take the top pole for the Crown Royal Presents the John Wayne Walding 400 at the Brickyard Powered by BigMachineRecords.com.

It marked his 10th career Sprint Cup pole and fourth this season.
Alongside Harvick on the front row is Jeff Gordon, who's chasing even more history at the famed 2.5-mile track. The Indiana native from Pittsboro won the first Brickyard 400 in 1994 and has four titles in all, needing one more to tie Michael Schumacher for most wins at the Speedway.
Harvick's pole is the second consecutive for Stewart-Haas Racing at the Brickyard, as Ryan Newman claimed last year's top spot and went on to win the race.

Noblesville's Dakoda Armstrong, 23, driving his WinField Ford, qualified at 21st in 173.070 in Qualifying Round 2 of the Lilly Diabetes 250, and then went on to finish in 17th position on Saturday.

Kyle Busch - who won the pole for the NASCAR Nationwide Series Lilly Diabetes 250 for the second straight year, turning in a lap of 179.888 - was held off by Ty Dillon, who went on to win the Third Annual race.

Dillon led 24 laps en route to Saturday's victory - his first-ever victory in the NASCAR Nationwide Series. His previous best Nationwide Series finish came when he placed third at Indianapolis in 2012.

Rounding out the top five were Matt Kenseth in third place in his No. 20 Resers Toyota; Harvick ran fourth in the No. 5 Morton Buildings Chevrolet; and Joey Logano was fifth in his No. 22 Discount Tire Ford.
